Teaching Cafe
It was held on Sunday, January 8th, and conducted by Prof. Cyntia Calixto (University of Leeds, UK). It briefly introduced the Teaching and Education SIG of the AIB and then it encouraged the participants to state their specific needs as instructors. After that, the session proposed a discussion about how to engage students and enhance class participation, and also provided insights about digital resources and IB syllabi. Finally, Prof. Cyntia exhibited examples of course designs to engage students (undergraduates and postgraduates) from Brazil and the UK.
Teaching Workshop
It was held on Monday, January 9th, and conducted by Prof. Cyntia Calixto (University of Leeds, UK), Prof. Miguel Cordova (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Peru), and Prof. Alka Maurya (Amity University, India). The session briefly introduced the Teaching and Education SIG of the AIB. Then Prof Cyntia highlighted the development of the video capsules and how they could become a reliable resource for teaching. After that, Prof. Miguel explained to the audience the collaborative strategy for the development of mini IB cases and how AIB members could be involved in the preparation and design of this teaching resource. Finally, Prof. Alka provided an insightful presentation about the structure and the elaboration of extended teaching cases.
