“This special issue on Teaching Innovations in the Field of International Business systematically explores the nature of teaching innovations and their impact. Featuring articles from the finalists of the 2021 Teaching Innovation Award organized by the Teaching and Education Shared Interest Group at Academy of International Business as well as a conceptual article that integrates these innovations, the special issue seeks to advance research on International Business pedagogy and to inspire scholars to pursue teaching innovations with greater impact.” (Dieleman et al., 2022)

The special issue crowns the inaugural AIB Teaching Innovation Award 2021 and motivates to apply and compete for the AIB Teaching Innovation Award 2023.

We are grateful to the Journal of Teaching in International Business and its Editor-In-Chief Dr. Raj Aggarwal and Managing Editor Dr. Yinglu Wu for their support and guidance throughout the guest editorial process.  We express our admiration for their efforts to promote teaching innovations in international business (IB) and uplift the importance of high-quality teaching in the field of IB. We would like to sincerely thank Professor Tamer Cavusgil for the dedicated mentorship and guidance through which the nominated teaching innovations can now reach a wide academic educators’ audience in a form of publication.

We genuinely appreciate support of the past AIB President Jeremy Clegg, the AIB President Maria Tereza Leme Fleury, and the incoming AIB President Peter Liesch and their dedication to promote the enhancement of IB education in multiple areas. Last but not least, the award would have never been established, promoted, and executed without the help and support of the AIB Secretariat, Tunga Kiyak and Daniel Rosplock in particular.

The reflections on all the award nominees and some of the participants year 2021, can be found in the newsletter Vol 3 – here

AIB Teaching & Education SIG hopes that this special issue and the upcoming award competitions will inspire IB educators to innovate and excel in their practices, making the real, long-term impact on the future of the IB graduates and the broader society.
